We were delighted to take the event to Thames Lodge (The Henley Masonic Centre) for the first time, and not just because it was inside in the warm! The fabulous architecture (the only building in Henley supported by Heritage UK) serving as a fabulously quirky and intimate setting. The audience initially gathered in the bar area where they were treated to fizz from the night’s partners (fellow Living Advent newbies) Fairmile Vineyard, and mince pies courtesy of our hosts for the evening. Fundraising for the night was for Sue Ryder.
At 6:15 p.m., the audience were then ushered through to the main chamber, through the “Advent” doors, where surprise performer “Pure Fluke” awaited them. The habitual Living Advent favourites treated the audience to a fantastic fun and uplifting set in the packed atmospheric chamber, with hits such as Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black”, Duran Durans “Save A Prayer”, Sting’s “Englishman In New York” and a rousing festive Pogues “Fairytale of New York” to finish with.
