Despite the pouring rain yesterday evening (Thursday) the Advent Door was opened on the beautiful Hobbs boat ‘New Orleans’ Fortunately it was big enough for all the audience to come on board and warm up with hot mulled wine and mince pies. And the performers who came through the Galley door fitted the water-borne setting perfectly : they were the GB Women’s & Lightweight Rowing Choir ! (Plus a couple of Leander male rowers) They sang a selection of traditional carols, then ended with Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. You could have heard a pin drop.

We were all particularly touched, as half the team should have been at an Awards ceremony in London, but gave up their time instead to come and help raise money for the Living Advent Calendar’s Charities

Tonight’s ‘Door’ will open at 6:15pm at The Kenton Theatre and our clue is that it will be a well-known local, with a big personality……
