Night 6 of the Living Advent saw a number of firsts. It was the first time the Spice Merchant had been involved as a venue, it was the first time that neighbours Farrow & Ball had been partners, it was the first time Tom Ryan and Paula Price-Davies had organised a Living Advent night, and it marked Living Advent debuts for the nights performers.
Tom Ryan is more accustomed to opening Henley Literary Festival audiences, and after welcoming the large audience that had crammed into the Spice Merchant, he introduced acoustic performer Holly Shillito whose set included “Last Christmas” by Wham and George Michael’s “Careless Whisper”. The audience were then treated to another surprise when Sheb Bamsey treated the crowd to some belly-dancing, encouraging members of the audience to join in, which they did, including mayor Ken Arlett.
The raffle was then drawn, with another bumper night for the night’s good cause, Chiltern Center.
Next up, to the Town Hall for night #7
