No 'Help!' needed despite cold fingers in the Hotel du Vin courtyard

Debuting in the Living Advent Calendar, Anna Nightingale (accompanied by guitarist Ian Gudgeon) entertained another large audience of over 100 on night 8 with a range of uplifting tracks – starting with the Beatles ‘Help!’, finishing on the Kinks ‘Sunny Afternoon’ and visiting the likes of Van Morrison’s ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ and a country version of ‘Tainted Love’ in between.

With guitarist Ian battling through the low temperatures to play the guitar, Anna kept warm with a big coat and festive hat, whilst the audience were grateful for the warm mulled wine and mince pies served by the hosts, and were invited to clap along to the entertaining tunes to keep warm.

Mayor Martin Akehurst and Councillor Sam Evans opened festivities, and Living Advent Chair Richard Rodway and the Mayor drew the raffle after the performance with prizes kindly donated by the Hotel (Sunday lunch for 2 with wine), partners for the evening Kench & Co (whiskey) and Friday night’s hosts Simmons & Son (champagne).

Big thanks to Martin Cook (www.hiddenhenley.com) for being on hand to attend to the photography again.

Next up and it’s on to the terrace at Shaun Dickens at the Boathouse, with Niki Schafer Interior Designs partnering at 6:15pm on Tuesday 9th December.
