Highlights

Wind and rain did not stop an audience of around 80 people gathering in Falaise Square for night 22 of the Living Advent last night. They were rewarded for their efforts and spirit with some delicious warming Indian Cuisine from award winning Cookcurry Club, who were partners for the evening.

The surprise performer was vocal trio Some Swell Sisters who performed under the shelter of a gazebo in front of the Christmas tree. The uplifting 30s style set starting with “Sing Sing Sing”and finishing with “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” was well received by the enthusiastic audience.

Fundraising on the night was for the Fish Volunteer Centre of Sonning Common. “It’s testimony to the spirt and generosity of the people of Henley who turn out night after night to support the event that, despite the weather, tonight was one of our most successful nights this year in terms of how much we raised”, commented Richard Rodway, organiser of the Living Advent. “Having the ‘Sisters’ perform under a gazebo in these sorts of conditions was not quite what any of us had in mind when we visualised the night several months ago, but it was such a fun and excellent performance and a big thanks to them for persevering with the conditions”.

Next up, and for the penultimate night of the Living Advent, the event will remain in Falaise Square, where the Chocolate Theatre Café will be partnering, and fundraising on the night will be for the 20th charity to benefit from this year’s event, Community First Responders.

Every evening Dec 1st - 24th, 6:15 to 6:45pm
