Nothing Average About Record Breaking Night

Nine piece band "The Average Wife Band" fronted by Lucie Henwood, performed on stage at the Town Hall, for night #23. They performed contemporary classics such as Aretha Franklins "Natual Woman" and Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" before finishing with festive number "Winter Wonderland".

The night was in aid of Camp Mohawk, a multi-functional day centre for children with special needs and their families in Wargave.

The centre provides a range of activities, facilities and natural space to encourage children with a variety of special needs to play, socialise and learn in a secure and caring environment.

The large audience that packed the hall were treated to red wine, juice, and sweet and savoury bites by event sponsor and host for the evening THP Solicitors, and event organiser and nightly compere Richard Rodway.

A dance floor had been cleared for the evening, and the spirited audience took the opportunity to dance along to the performance.

The group rehearses every Tuesday in Woodley and has a ‘learn to sing’ course starting in January and an open rehearsal on January 24th.

Lucie Henwood thanked Richard Rodway, Hugh Legh and all of the other people that give up their time for the event. She also paid tribute to the late Carolyn Molyneux who had been involved with the event since it's inception. Fresh from volunteering herself at the Kenton Theatre that afternoon, Mrs. Henwood encouraged the audience to get involved, that the Kenton needs volunteers, and to get in touch.

The night was a great success for the charity, with £741 being raised on the night, eclipsing the previous highest ever nightly total raised by the Living Advent (£732 set at Saint Marys on 24th December 2019). The event has also already raised more across the month than ever before, with one day to go.

Every evening Dec 1st - 24th, 6:15 to 6:45pm
