Highlights
Night 5 saw the Living Advent visit on the Angel on the Bridge. Deputy Mayor Will Hamilton welcomed a large audience and introduced Zoe Lane from the night’s charity Headway, to talk a little more about the work the charity did.
As the audience enjoyed fabulous Copas Turkey baps and winter Pimms supplied by the hosts and partners for the evening Copas Turkeys, the night’s surprise act was introduced, Julia Titus and Matt Foster, aka Ma Bessie & Her Pigfoot Band.
They performed a fun set of some 30’s blues, Elvis, Nina Simone and some festive classics, finishing aptly on “Down By The Riverside”.
“I am again delighted to be able to bring such a quality new local act to the event” said organiser Richard Rodway. When Matt got in touch following their 5 star reviews at the Reading Fringe I was really impressed with their repertoire and had to find a good fit somewhere”. “They did so well despite the freezing temperatures!”.
Deputy Mayor Hamilton and Richard Rodway then presided over the raffle, with some great prizes supplied by Machins, Charlotte Snowden photography, the now almost obligatory bottle of Prosecco and a fabulous hamper which was fittingly won by Anne Baker or Lawlors Bakers, habitual audience members, big supporters of the event, and indeed partners on 14th December.
Next up for the Living Advent, day 6 takes us to the Courtyard at Hotel du Vin where another impressive and fun surprise performer awaits in a great, festive setting.
Every evening Dec 1st - 24th, 6:15 to 6:45pm
